Quilt Play Day one: Need to lighten up? Not having any quilting fun? Then, this workshop's for you. Intuitive and improvisational, we'll play liberating games at your sewing machine. We'll lift four "games" from the above quilt... slice fabrics, trade slivers of blocks, and hunt for bright colors just begging for a place to land in a quilt. You will return home with a few oxymoron blocks, in random order. Can't you see it now? Fabrics all over the floor... mayhem, chaos, delightful laughter.

Day two: More random order blocks... At your sewing machine, we will continue to play intuitive and improvisational games. The day will begin creating impromptu "Musical Chairs" in an orderly-disorder manner. In the afternoon, Piano Keyboard and CheckerBoarder will be added to your play.

Requirement: Excellent Sense of Humor! . . . and, oh yes, a good friendship with a sewing machine and basic knowledge of piecing.

Book: Quilters PLAYTIME recommended but not required for class. It will be available for purchase at the workshop, should you wish to buy.

* Friday October 21, 2012, Dianne Hire will be PPQG's featured speaker. Her lecture is titled "Oxymorons: Absurdly Logical Quilts!"

About the Instructor

Fabric has always been a part of Dianne's life. She began her quilting journey in 1985 and her development and exploration started with the traditional designs and techniques. Even then she experimented to find her own way and style to work with fabric. "Find out the rules and determine to break them." She is an award-winning fiber artist and international exhibitor. In her prior life she was a couture dress buyer for 17 years and never considered that quilting would be a large part of her life. She has live in Maine since 1981 with her husband Terri and a quilt cat (Maine Coon size) named Sir Hilary Hire.
