Lava, by Jan Sitts
Register by:   July 11, 2012
Tuition:   $260 members; $285 non-members
Materials fee:   $7
Materials list:   Painting Abstraction Materials

Jan Sitts uses aggressive textures and unusual media, bringing the various raw pieces and layers of materials into their final stages within the whole of a painting.

The exploration and experimentation with materials is like discovering a new world. Many techniques, materials, compositions and emotions play off of each other when creating the piece. Materials used include, but are not limited to, acrylics, charcoal, prisma colors and a variety of gels along with textural materials for stamping.

The adventure is in letting the process be your guide. Releasing old painting habits, you will gain the knowledge of layering textures, colors, and feelings and of executing shapes by utilizing positive and negative space.
