The famous art critic, Arthur Danto, once wrote "There are two necessary criteria for something to be deemed 'a work of art' - it must have meaning and it must embody that meaning." This workshop embraces that philosophy and helps students at all ability levels learn how to create unique and meaningful art. Kathy's successful method demonstrates how to escape the ordinary and paint the extraordinary.

Because all great paintings begin with a great concept, students first learn how to develop a concept for their own paintings by using an effective method developed by Kathy. The next step is to translate that concept into a working thesis, or artist's statement. Kathy then demonstrates how to use that thesis to create a series of paintings that is uniquely meaningful, technically consistent and masterful. Daily instruction is followed by student engagement in this think - write - paint - share workshop. By the week's end, students will have all the tools necessary to create unique and meaningful art for a life time.

Kathy teaches with warmth, humor, enthusiasm and insight. As an experienced teacher and award-winning artist, she is able to help students develop and improve technical skills in painting as well as concept development. This workshop provides painters in all media with the necessary tools required to create great art!

"Kathy's workshop has opened up the floodgates of creating meaningful work that speaks to my soul, my very being. Kathy is kind in her guidance, generous with her knowledge and creates an atmosphere of excitement about making art! I highly recommend anyone who has an opportunity to work with Kathy to do so." - Carolyn Abrams, Brunswick, NY
