This 2-day class will cover free-motion machine quilting basics.

Free motion quilting is similar to drawing, except the drawing device (in this case, the needle) stays fixed, and the "paper" (quilt) is moved under the needle to make the design. Another name for this class might be "Now that I have dropped my feed dogs, what do I do next?"

Free Motion Machine Quilting Designs can be drawn on your quilt with various kinds of markers, transferred via stencils, quilted freehand with a few marked guidelines, or quilted totally freehand as your imagination takes you. You will learn a number of techniques for achieving the look you want and will have an opportunity to learn a little about easy borders, background fills, and focus areas.

Depending on your level of skill and confidence, you should come to the class with a number of quilt sandwiches prepared for practice, a simple sampler quilt top, or a project you would like to work on.
