This introductory course will teach students the basics of how to decorate and dye eggs using the wax resist method. Plenty of time will be provided for hands-on practice. Students may make traditional style Pysanka eggs or create dyed eggs of their own design with this method.

About the instructor

Ms. Battaglia has dyed eggs using the wax resist method for almost twenty years. She began egg dying while living on the island of Tinian in the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. She learned her craft dyeing traditional Pysanka style eggs, but then started doing her own egg designs reflecting the culture and styles of the island on which she was living. When living in the Commonwealth, she displayed her works regularly at the local Tinian Hot Pepper Festival and the annual Flame Tree Festival on the island of Saipan.
