The second day will be more advanced topics. It will deal with issues like animating slides, using layers to create effects, synchronizing slides to music, and building custom menus for a DVD. Participants should come to the workshop with knowledge of how to work with collections of digital images on their computer and how to do simple edition operations on the images. Note: The specific details of this workshop will be based on the ProShow Gold software published by Photodex and which runs only on MS Windows. An evaluation version of ProShow Gold software will be provided to participants who don't already have the software. Detailed Description of Each DayDay 1: Introduction to slide show Day 2: Working with titles About Steve GadolSteve Gadol worked for 30 years in the computer industry as a programmer, researcher, product development manager and technologist. Over the years, he was often called upon to make presentations to both company executives and customers about the technology and products he was developing. He soon learned the value of focusing the presentation on telling a story. That both helped keep the attention of his audience and created the context in which the most important points were clearly emphasized. After retiring, Mr. Gadol has made photography more than just a passive hobby. He has traveled extensively from Africa and South America to the polar North photographing the lands and the wildlife it supports. Since 2001, Steve and his wife Jeanne have lived at the Sea Ranch part time. Steve has used his photography to put together several entertaining presentations for Gualala Arts that have included Kenya and Botswana, the High Arctic and most recently the bird refuge at Bosque del Apache. Mr. Gadol enjoyed teaching during his career in computer science. He both taught university level courses at Santa Clara University and San Jose State and several technology seminars at Xerox and Sun Microsystems. His workshop on "Telling a Story with Your Photos" draws from all this experience. See also: Gualala Arts Workshop Registration, Payment & Cancellation Policy.
