This will be a workshop for those who would like to learn how to knit. The student will learn how to cast on stitches, knit stitches, purl stitches and how to bind off (remove from the needle) their piece. They will also be taught how to read a pattern. Once these basic moves are learned, the student will be able to create simple items such as scarves, hats, dishcloths, coasters, potholders and more. Other stitches that are used to increase or decrease stitches will be discussed and learned if time allows.
A handout will be provided for each student to take with them that will be a step-by-step instruction sheet that will be clear and easy to understand, so when they are away from class, they should be able to follow the descriptions and pictures to assist them if they get stuck.
Lu is relatively new to the North Coast and has knitted and crocheted all her life. She started meeting casually with neighbors who previously were unsuccessful learning how to knit, but with patience they now have a sense of accomplishment.
