A series of three classes exploring nourishing foods that are healthy for you. Each class will begin with information by Caren Cramer, a nutritional therapist, leading to open discussion. This will be followed by cooking demonstrations and tastings by Naomi Schwartz, an accredited professional chef. There will be opportunities for hands on cooking and for you to suggest foods you would like to learn to cook.
First class will be Fiber and Sodium, with a tasting of a variety of salts. The second class will be Protein and Fat with a tasting of a variety of olive oils. The third class will be Carbohydrates and Fake Sugar with a tasting of a variety of sugars.
Naomi Schwartz graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. She was the chef at St. Orres Restaurant many years ago and then founded and ran The Food Company in Gualala from 1983 to 2002. She is currently The Foodie and Culinary Expert at the Surf Supermarket. She has taught many cooking classes and is skilled in culinary techniques and teaching.
Caren Cramer graduated from the Nutritional Therapy Program in Petaluma, CA in 2004. The school's philosophy is founded on the basics of digestion, blood, sugar, fatty acid and mineral balance.
