One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Gualala Arts Center Theater is proud to present "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," by Dale Wasserman from the novel by Ken Kesey. Performances will be July 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30 and 31; Thursday, Friday and Saturday curtain at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Based on Ken Kesey's first novel of the same name, this play is set in a mental asylum somewhere in Oregon. The hero is R.P. McMurphy, a sane man who, due to a brush with the law, opts for being committed to a mental asylum rather than be incarcerated with hard labor. Upon his entry into the secluded world of the asylum, he starts breaking up the existing structure and starts laying down his own rules, in his own way.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest This leads to problems with the head honcho of the place, a controlling and menacingly evil Nurse Ratched. McMurphy creates revolution and takes the inmates on a wild ride, finally leading them to realize the ultimate goal: that people , no matter the situation, can always hold their destiny in their hands. This knowledge, achieved in the end, does not come without a price.

Not suggested for youth because of adult themes and language.

Tickets are $15 advance; $5 additional if purchased the day of the performance. For advance ticket purchase, go to Brown Paper Tickets or call them at 800-838-3006. To purchase tickets in person, visit the Gualala Arts Center or Dolphin Gallery in Gualala.
