Sandra Rubin

April 1 - May 30, 2011

Other Venues: Sea Ranch Lodge Front Gallery

Painting by Sandra Rubin The Front Gallery at The Sea Ranch Lodge will be showing the paintings of Sandra Rubin from April 1 through May 30, 2011.

Sandra has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. She was told it could be her hobby, and then she went on to fulfill greater expectations. She has been a Pediatrician at Kaiser in Santa Rosa for over 20 years.

In her own words, "I love Pediatrics in many ways - the opportunity for intimate contact with people, kids, and families, solving mysteries, doing something useful and helpful...but I continue to paint. It satisfies a completely different part of myself - non-verbal, non linear, intuitive and spiritual - a search for a deep honesty and truth of my own."

Sandra is primarily self-taught but has taken classes in many different places including Santa Rosa Junior College, the Mendocino Art Center, Massachusetts College of Art and Boston Museum School.

She has been painting for several years with Carol Watanabe and others at a shared studio, Art Heaven in Sebastopol. Sandra likes to draw and paint people, landscapes, still lives as well as abstractions. For her, the subject of a painting is a focus to explore what seems most important, beautiful or valuable in the moment.

Sandra likes to paint expressively and somewhat abstractly, leaving space that invites the viewer to participate in the painting. In her own words, "Art is a constant underground current, filled with the deep mysteries of life. Some artists tap into it with ease, some work at it, and sometimes one gets lucky."

Sandra has exhibited in many Sonoma County venues and at Plaza Art Gallery in Healdsburg, Quercia Gallery in Duncans Mills, Canessa Gallery in San Francisco and participates in Art at the Source.
