Gualala Arts Committees

Board committees provide a strong financial and organizational structure for Gualala Arts. Any interested members may join any committee. Call 884-1138.

The Finance Committee, chaired by Don Kemp, meets the second Wednesday, every other month. They track expenditures and income in relation to budget, make investment recommendations, plan for the financial solvency of Gualala Arts, and explore ways and means of increasing income.

The Policy Committee, chaired by Bruce Jones, meets monthly on the third Tuesday. They document policy for activity and affiliate groups, staff, maintenance and operations of the Art Center. This documentation provides for the continued smooth operation of the center through future transition of staff and Board.

The Building Committee, chaired by Jim Grenwelge, meets each Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Members are involved in landscaping, classroom planning and building, maintenance, semi-annual rummage sale, and various odd jobs. With eleven acres of land, a building to complete and maintain, and future building plans, there will always be a need for this committee. They make recommendations of capitol improvements to the Board.

The Endowment Committee is being chaired by Don Kemp. Meetings are held intermittently with an endeavor to establish substantial funding to secure future sustainability of the Art Center.

The Membership Committee, chaired by Annie Brayer, keeps records of membership, determines membership categories, secures members during Art in the Redwoods Festival, and promotes membership in support of the Arts.

The Auxiliary Committee is chaired by Harriet Wright, who secures Saturday and Sunday docents for Gualala Arts Gallery and art receptions.

The Scholarship Committee, chaired by Shirley Case, is responsible for selecting recipients for the $5,000 in scholarships that Gualala Arts offers each year. They send applications to local high schools, review applications, interview applicants and make recommendations to the Board.

The Gualala Arts Center, located at 46501 Gualala Road in Gualala, CA,
